well, just to be clear, i do not put “trans” in the same category as the word “sissy.”
i have absolutely no problem with the term “trans.” it’s a descriptor term just like “tall” or “white” or “canadian,” and there certainly are appropriate times to use it. and yes, of course trans women and trans men are women and men, and there’s no need to mention the trans status unless speaking in a certain context.
"sissy," on the other hand, is a loaded term that makes a multitude of assumptions about the subject. while some may feel comfortable with it and co-opt this term for themselves, i most certainly do not, and i would never use it to refer to anyone else. in my mind, "gurl" is the same. it’s "girl" with a wink and a nudge, a distinction that a person is something less.
i’m simply a girl with an “i” like any other, and i expect others to treat me as such.
