my dad is having what we hope is life-saving surgery tomorrow. ten hours at the university of minnesota. he’s 63 and has been in wonderful health his entire life, until four months ago.
i’ve often spoke about my feelings here, and it has been a tough year, emotionally, but i can honestly say i’ve never been more scared, anxious, worried, than i am tonight. i’m at my parents’ house, and tensions are running high here.
i don’t pray. even if i thought there was a god, he’d get so many millions of prayers a second that he couldn’t possibly deal with them all. that said, we need all the good thoughts we can get.
it’s suddenly like the rest of my life is … miles away. like a dream.
